letting go

what i mean to say is are'nt the birds more sophisticated- they are well-equipped tohandle their old-age rather than human beings,
should not we be financially qand emotionally so balanced in our oldage that we present a happy picture to our kids, so that they can njoy their life with their own kids without having to worry about the old parents left behind-

Well, that's a nice idea; but birds' lives are so much shorter than humans', and the natural world is just completely different. Humans don't live in the Darwin-esque natural world where the old and sick are left to perish because they're slowing down the herd. Humans have compassion and a recognition that life is important enough to cling to for as long as possible.
